Spring Activities!

Pic by Franzi.

Those last few days were incredible sunny in Hamburg! I love the clear blue sky above my head as well as the intensive warmth of the bright spring-sun on my skin. The singing of the birds, the bloomy smell in the air. (Oh, and hello hay-fever… Nobody missed YOU.)
What do you plan to do during this new season? Here comes my list with ideas to enjoy springtime even a bit more:

Go to the farmers market and buy a fresh bouquet of flowers for your flat.

Create your own herb garden by planting basil, thyme and parsley on your windowsill.

Make a stroll through your city and get to know the old streets new (we love to walk through Hamburg using this guide).

Make plans for you summer vacations.

Eat more colorful salads.

Have the first BBQ this year.

Make your bicycle fit for the new season.

Take out your spring & summer wardrobe and store away all those thick sweaters, coats and heavy boots.

Create your personal spring playlist 2017 on Spotify and listen to it in the morning while enjoying your first cup of coffee.

(Re-) start a new or old sport. Running, anybody?

Eat ice-cream!

I wish you a wonderful spring week! Enjoy the sun and all those crazy-happy feelings coming with it :)!

Summer Bucket List!

Summer Bucket ListPic by Franzi.

I’m a big bucket list fan… To write a list of to-dos and to talk about it is not only a reminder for oneself – it also creates some pressure to actually do those things. Here are the ten things I plan to do during the summer of 2015:

1. Swim in the sea & pick up shells on the beach.

2. Go to an open-air cinema.

3. Eat gazpacho.

4. Go to an open-air concert.

5. Have a picnic.

6. Have at least a handful of BBQs.

7. Read at least three books.

8. Try out three new ice-cream variations.

9. Walk from Hamburg’s Landungsbrücken to Wedel.

10. Have a handful of after-work beers/wine spritzers in a nice beer garden.

…And now comes the pressure-part: At the end of summer, I will tell you how many of those activities I really have done :).

What’s your summer bucket list? I wish you a wonderful start into this next hot, hot summer week!

Late Summer To Dos!

Late SummerPic by Franzi.

Another August week started! Looking outside, one might think that it’s already autumn. But NO, it’s still late summer – and will be for the next few weeks. Now is the time to make all the things one loves in summer – at least one more time. I prepared you a small list of things I plan to do… Are there other to-dos on your late summer list?

To all my readers out-there: I worked on my business concept for quite some time now. Currently I participate on a competition called “Gründergarage”. If you would like to learn more about my idea and to support me, please follow THIS LINK and vote for me or comment on my concept and let your friends also know about it. I need as much feedback as possible to make my idea a success. Thank you so much in advance!

I wish you a perfect new late summer week! Have a good one and spend as much hours outside as possible!

Take your friends and make a bike trip together.

A picnic in a cornfield.

Collect blackberries and make jam!

Bake a plum-cake.

Light a fire in the evening and enjoy grilled marshmallows.

Have some more BBQs with you friends.

Have a drink on your balcony, light a candle and enjoy the sundown.

Take one last bath in the lake.

Have some sunflowers on your dining table.

Go to the flea market on Sunday afternoons!

Enjoy all those fruits and vegetables that the farmers market is offering right now: Courgettes, pumpkins, tomatoes, cucumbers, chanterelles, beans!

Go book-shopping …and plan cozy autumn days on your sofa.

Open-Air Activities!

Let’s start singing now: ‘Come on baby have some fun, dancing in the morning sun…’. It’s time to start the summer dreaming! And what do you do during summer time? – Spending as much time as is possible outside! Thinking about it, I realize there is an enormous number of open-air activities possible and wrote down this (short) inspiration list as motivator for the next hot weeks. What will you do first? Going to the zoo? Eat ice-cream? Or maybe play a round of Kubb with your pals in the park? Hmm, I think I will start with the ice-cream part…

I wish you all a sunny open-air week!

Spring Activities!

Spring ActivitiesPic by Franzi.

I am just ignoring the fact that it started to snow again here in Osnabrück and continue to prepare myself for the warm season. These first springy days last week were a real mood-lifter and I was fascinated once again about the effect of sunshine onto people. So, I think about all the things that wait for us in the next months to give us all something to look forward to. Let it snow a few more days – I am very positive that this spring will be long and warm and light and beautiful!

I wish you all a week with seven mood-lifting days!

About Rituals…

Rituals4Pic by Franzi.

Do you have any rituals that you follow on a regular basis? I do. Most of them somehow developed themselves: They were initiated once, turned out to be great and then were repeated and repeated until they suddenly became a ritual. This is how the ritual to meet up with friends for a coffee after visiting the farmers market every Saturday was initiated, or the ritual to watch the here in Germany very popular crime series Tatort with my pals in the cozy pub every Sunday night. Or the ritual that Thursday evenings are special evenings for me, because I have time for myself. Or the ritual that Saturday afternoons are the perfect time point to make all weekly telephone calls to my friends and family members. The newest invention of a ritual is still in its developing phase: A few friends of mine and me were meeting up for several Friday nights in a row and after some time we all realized that this is the perfect way to say goodbye to your work and hello to your weekend. We either cooked, or just had a nice red wine and a good talk or watched a film together. Nothing big, but enough to look forward to when you struggle with the daily pressures on a Wednesday. Rituals give your life a schedule you can trust, but they are never fixed. This is the best part… they are completely flexible, and if you skipped them for one week you still know that one week later, it is very possible that you find yourself again in a circle of friends or finally alone conducting a good old ritual.

Do you have any weekly rituals? Let me know! I wish all you a week full of great plans to look forward to!

Winter Actions!

Winter ActionsPic by Franzi.

I just realized last week that I still haven’t made a Winter Activity post. But one look outside is sufficient to see that I’m still in time. Still winter… not my favorite season, but yes it’s beautiful in it’s very own cold, often grey and sometimes white kind of way. So what can you do on a typical winter day? Yes, if you’re lucky enough to have some snow, you can go sleding or make a snowball fight or go for skiing/snowboarding or whatever. Unfortunately, most winter days are more wet and cold and not-so-white. What can you do on these days? Here comes my list with suggestions…

I wish you all a beautiful wintry week!

Drink a nice cup of tea, staring out in the cold landscape.

A handcrafts project: Knit a scarf, …

Have a cold winter walk and enjoy the feeling of coming back to your warm home.

Start to think about this year’s gardening plans. Order seeds, develop ideas!

Have candle light dinners with your best friends.

Spend a sunday in the sauna.

Bake cookies with friends – the flat smells cozy afterwards. And anyway, everyone deserves a cookie from time to time.

Declutter your home … go through your wardrobe and old magazine stacks – it’s fun and afterwards you are happy about so much more space!

Go out, have a run. The air is freezing, but it feels sensational!

Start a new puzzle! Yeah, I know it will occupy space for the next months, but it’s worth it.

Go to the video store, take at least three films with you and spend the whole night with popcorn on your sofa 🙂

Go to a yoga class.

Make yourself a wintry salad.

Fall Actions!

Pic by Franzi

It’s incredible but with the beginning of September suddenly the air changes. Everything smells like dried leaves, somehow spicy. And without a warning it’s Fall! People change their outfits from super-short and airy to warm and comfy. Earthy colours appear everywhere around me. The sunlight produces these certain shades of autumnal atmosphere. I LOVE this season! Do you have special plans for the next months? I prepared you a small list of the Fall activities that nobody should miss out!

Have a last BBQ… wrapped in warm blankets.

Again: Go into the zoo …see how the animals prepare themselves for the cold season!

Go to a music concert …it’s incredible how many cool bands are on tour this fall. It’s impossible to decide for only a few of them!

Take a good friend with you and go to the movies! …Or even better: A Film Festival 😉

Spent a whole afternoon going through old magazines, take out your favorite articles and make space for new ones!

Have a nice cup of tea! …Black or green, whatever you like. What counts is only that you feel COZY!

Make a trip to the sea! …Honestly, this is my prefered sea season. It’s all rough and wild and lonely!

Make a bike trip with friends and family! …The yellow fields and colourful forests are absolutely beautiful right now!

(Like always) On rainy days: Go to a museum!

Raclette or Fondue with friends! …How can one spent an evening together in a better way?

Apple picking! …And then use them for baking apple pie! Yummi 🙂

Go running! The air is perfect now!

Collect colourful leaves and  chestnuts and beechnuts! …And  use them for handicrafts with kids!

Read all the books you bought throughout summer, that you never had enough time to read back then!

Prepare onion tart! …And enjoy it with a nice glass of Federweisser!

Go to the farmers market, buy a bunch of vegetables and cook yourself a warm, delicious soup!

…. Have a nice start into this fall week everyone!
