The Island of my Dreams: Hiddensee!

Hiddensee13My Grandma’s book about Hiddensee from 1952. All pics by Franzi.

We are still at the Baltic sea in our summer vacations. Last Thursday and Friday we were on my beloved island Hiddensee. It was the first time for me that I spent a night on the island and it was wonderful! I love its rough nature, the water all around and the pretty little houses. Here are some photos to give you an impression of this little spot of heaven :)…

I wish you a wonderful start into the fresh week – have a sunny one!

Den Haag (The Hague)!

Here are a few pics from last week’s trip to Den Haag (The Hague, Netherlands). …As inspiration to get you into the summer mood. It was wonderful – stormy and wild and simply adorable. That’s how I love the sea!

I wish you a wonderful start into this fresh summer week!

The Baltic Sea: Zingst & Rügen!

OSTSEE1BARTH/NEAR ZINGST (all pics by Franzi)

Two weekends ago, I spend some days with my dad, my brother and his girlfriend at my Dad’s place in Barth, near the Baltic Sea. Saturday we went to the little Sea town Zingst: The sun was shining but the water was still freezing cold – not that I would have even considered to go bathing in May ;). Sunday we made a trip to one of my favorite places in the world: Kap Arkona on the island Rügen. The weekend brought me just into the right summer mood. …With those following pics I would like to share this (German) beach feeling with you :).

Have a sunny start into the fresh week! …And a fantastic new summer (!) month!

Ran Ortner!

“Water is a manifestation of the multitude of wave energies that surround us, a formless, colorless, tasteless, odorless “billowing solid” (Wallace Stevens), visible to our eye only with the addition of light. A single drop potentially mirrors everything that surrounds it. Water embodies the concept of endlessness, of complexities repeated fractally from one drop to the vast sea. I expose the identity of the ancient body of the ocean with integrity by being hyper-observant to its nature, focusing on the structure, synchronicity, and oscillations of the waves.” Ran Ortner

I have nothing more to say to finish this week. Only one more thing: Look at those stunning paintings of water and waves by artist Ran Ortner. Wow!

I wish you a weekend full of stunning moments, many hours outside and hopefully dry days!

Those Were My Days … At The Sea!

My time at the sea is already more than one week ago. Oh, I am craving the sound of he sea gulls, the wind at the harbor, the cold of the water and the sallow thorn ice-cream. I miss the solitude, the little house near the tower, the church and its famous pipe organ. Why do vacations always have to end so fast? I am happy to be home again, but the melancholia of these past few weeks is still in my heart.

I wish you a perfect start into a wonderful week, filled with many memorable moments!

BeachThe beach …sometimes wild and dangerous (and cold!), sometimes calm like a lake! All pics by Franzi.

Barth4Barth …the harbor = the place I ate ice-cream ALL THE TIME.

Barth6Barth …on my last day there was a feast at the harbor and I rode with the ferry wheel!

Barth5Barth …one of the prettiest gardens I ever saw!

Barth2Barth …the small white house on the right is where I lived!

Barth1Barth …in this church I listened to two fantastic (!) concerts.

Barth3Barth …I tried to watch the sundown at the harbor every evening (while eating ice-cream).

Hiddensee1Hiddensee …I made a one-day trip there (3 hours on the ferry to the island, 3 hours on the island, 3 hours on the ferry back to Barth – so worth it!).

Hiddensee2Hiddensee …I love the wild feeling of this island!

Go Nautical!

It’s summer, it’s hot and it’s time to go away and visit the sea. And I will 🙂 ! Soon! And then I will wear only blue and white and red. But even for the time apart from the beach there’s always a reason to go nautical. Don’t you think? It’s just a timeless and classy look, which a totally adore!

Pure ingenuity

Today’s post may be short, but nevertheless it is filled with two things extraordinary inspiring, which I planed to share with you for a few weeks now. And – like the title already says – I believe they are pure ingenuity! Have fun listening/watching this and a wonderful start into the fresh week!

This song is simply perfect.

I can not stop watching this. Incredible, incredible, incredible…
