Tracy Chapman… her voice is so distinct and memorable, it’s burned into my soul. She sings about the other side of the story – the not-so-bright and glamouros side of daily life, of dreams and ambitions. What is also remarkable is the story of how she became famous: At the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute, she sponatneously played during an unplanned break because Stevie Wonder had to interrupt his performance.
Have fun listening (& maybe thinking about your own music heroines/heroes)!
