The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin!

A few months ago I visited a friend of mine in Cologne and by accident I came across Gretchen Rubin’s book The Happiness Project. Like I told you already (several times) I am a big fan of Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and this book sounded like it could keep up with it:

Gretchen Rubin had an epiphany while riding the bus. She asked herself what she wants from life. Her answer was simply to be happy. But was she happy or were there ways to enhance the happiness factor in her life? This was the beginning of a year-long experience – she started a happiness project. Each month she set herself goals: For example, January was dedicated to boost energy, February to remember love, June to make time for friends or September to pursue a passion. After I read it I must admit that Eat, Pray, Love is still my number one. Nevertheless, Gretchen’s ideas to fulfill her goals and commitments are innovative, well investigated and often extremely funny. I just started to practise one of her advises: To sing in the morning. Three times a week, my mornings start at 5am, so a bit happiness is urgently needed … and singing really is working. The book is filled with a ton of other ideas and insights, which makes it absolutely recommendable. Go and read it yourself. And then – maybe – start your own happiness project :).

One small anecdote: While reading the book in the train last week, my seatmate read the title and told me that he thinks I am looking happy anyway. This was a very nice comment and is reflecting in a very good way my own perception :)!
