During the last months I often had the impression that whenever I was looking for new music, I sooner or later found something from Merril Garbus and her music project tUnE-yArDs. And what a cool sound the lady produces! With her drum loops, her ukulele and her unique voice, accompanied by an electric bass (played by Nate Brenner) and momentarily also by a saxophone section (Matt Nelson and Noah Bernstein) she invents pieces of experimental tunes that finally yield in an incredibly composition. I saw her live a few weeks ago and have to tell you something: No matter what you already saw/heard from her it’s nothing in comparison with the reality. For me, tUnE-yArDs stands for experimental music at its best!
