The music of The Drums reminds me always of summer and The Smiths. I know that sounds like a crazy combination, but it’s true. Maybe it’s because I didn’t listen to nearly anything but the Drums during the whole summer of 2010. The first time I heard their song „Let’s go surfing“ I had to laugh out loud and its melody stuck with me ever since (…and that was exactly the same with „Girlfriend in a Coma“ by The Smiths). I know, that many critics claimed about their second album (released end of 2011) that they didn’t invent something new in comparison to their first one. I thought about it for a while and I came to the result that I’m totally happy they didn’t. This way, also my next summer has already found its perfect soundtrack!
