Geode Street Art Project

„I enjoy the fact that many people will not notice these, but some astute people will; that these will not last forever and the weather will affect them as naturally as it might in nature.“

A Common Name

It’s no secret that I’m a huge street art sympathizer. Thus, those of you who know me well, already asked a few times why I haven’t made a post about it yet. Well, the answer is easy: I just don’t know where to begin with. It’s such a wiiide sphere with so MANY directions and different forms. Hence, I just need some more time to prepare something that is really worth it to be posted ;). But I was not able to keep  back from you these incredibly inspiring creations of this young lady here. A Common Name (aka Paige Smith) is a graphic designer and artist from L.A, who started a few month ago her street art project Geode. Therefore she prepares custom-fit 3D paper sculptures that represent natural shapes like geodes, crystals, or other mineral formations that she inserts into holes of buildings or pipes in the area of L.A. (and new: also in Mexico where she spent her vacation). They look so pretty and frail, I would really love to track them down around the city!

  1. Wow – must be pretty time-consuming to prepare these sculptures!
Another street artitst I adore is Slinkachu – you’ve probably heard of him before. He makes those very funny or cynical arrangements with tiny people figurines and everyday objects at public places.
