Fashion Highlight Spring 2017: Blousons (Bomber Jackets)!

Two blousons I saw last week at the #SMWHH. Pic by Franzi.

The last week I spent at the Social Media Week Hamburg #SMWHH. I not only learned a lot of interesting new things, but also spotted very stylish people all around me. The one item that I came across again and again were silky (really: parachute fabric!) blousons – aka bomber jackets!

I was surprised: Bomber jackets always remind me on my adolescence in the 1990s were they represented a clear (right-oriented) political standing. Now they come with floral designs and bright flashy colors. They are teamed up with skirts or skinny jeans and worn by women and men! With the still colder temperatures out there most people I met wore them as a blazer or cardigan underneath their winter coats. Nevertheless, I am sure that blousons will be worn as light coats when it’s finally getting warmer.

Would you wear a bomber jacket? Let me know!
Have a beautiful week!

Some second-hand blousons I found in the PICKnWEIGHT store in Hamburg.

Fall Street Style Looks!

The most stylish women are to be seen outside on the streets. It’s the place where the real looks of the season are born. So, let’s see what’s out there right now :)!

Three Fall Trends!

Here are three trends for fall/winter 2015. I have to admit that I am not very convinced. Maybe the high-waisted jeans? Or I wait and watch out for some trendy girls on the streets, who dare to wear blankets (aka ponchos) over their shoulders. …Actually, the checked shirts will look better on guys anyway ;).

What do you think – will you wear them?

A New Trend? Knee Ripped Jeans!

Knee Ripped JeansCredit

Currently, I recognized a new trend on the streets of Berlin and Hamburg: A lot of hip people a wearing dark skinny jeans with ripped knees. Actually, it’s not a big rip, but a distinct cut that only shows clear skin if the leg is bent. First I thought: “Oh no, not that ripped jeans trend again. That’s totally 90s.” But slowly I start to think that it’s different. Somehow more sophisticated – I even saw tall (and totally adorable) men sporting it. I am pretty sure that I won’t present my own knees in that way (my knees are a very sensitive part of my body and I would never expose them to be the center of attention). But somehow I like to see all this flashes of pure skin around me now…

Would you dare to rip your skinny-jeans and show your knees around?

A Rediscovered Must-Have: Jeans Jackets!

Jeans JacketCredit

Lately, I accidentally listened to the following conversation between two parents in a high street store. He: “Why does our daughter need a new jacket anyway?” She: “Because she needs a jeans jacket.” He: “But she has already a jacket.” She: “But no jeans jacket. She sais she needs a jeans jacket because it is the must-have of this season.” …I am not pretty sure that the father was convinced by this argument, but I have to admit that his daughter knows something about fashion. Jeans jackets are really present again on the streets. I like their casual look and that one can combine them with nearly everything. Nevertheless, they still carry some 90s memories for me. What about you, will you wear a jeans jacket this spring and summer? I’m curious to know!

A Splash of Neon!

NeonI, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII

We are celebrating the first of May and are all (still/again) wishing the sun would be a bit more present this week. But never mind, we will start into the fresh month in a good mood anyway. And neon seems to be a good helper to brighten up our days. To be honest, I wore more than enough neon colored clothes during the 90s and I was slightly shocked when I realised their reappearance in the shops. After some procrastination I come now to the conclusion that one neon piece may not be the worst idea – in combination with a neutral grey tone it even looks like fun!

I wish you all a perfect (and bright) May 1!

A Modern Classic: Blue Jeans!

Blue Jeans

I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII

I can’t really believe it myself but in 1,5 years of blogging and preparing Look posts I never – not once – wrote about the most obvious fashion item at all: Blue Jeans. Since their first appearance in the end of the 19th century they are a permanent part of the fashion world and today it seems unimaginable to live without them. They a robust, convenient, casual and easily to combine with. – Simply a modern classic that I would not like to miss in my own wardrobe!

Nail Art Pt. II!

Nail ArtI, II, III, IV, V, VI

Since last year’s Nail Art post was such a great success and since I know that a bunch of you are adoring all kinds of polishes, I decided to create a follow-up. Voilà, here they are: six great new ideas to style-up your nails. Oh, how I wish that I would be more talented in painting my nails! – Unfortunately I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m a hopeless case. Nevertheless, at least those pretty watercolor nails I will try out for sure!

Have fun with creating your own nail art (and show me the results) !
