Those Beautiful Days in ….Portugal!

All pics by Franzi.

We are back from Portugal. Somehow I made it through the plane flights …and it was totally worth it! The Algarve was a dream: On my birthday we had 30°C (a first in 35 years) and visited the most stunning beaches. The wedding of Isa and André was full of sunshine and love. Lisbon impressed me with its Fado sounds, the steep streets of Alfama, a hilarious tram ride, its elevators to reach the higher parts of the town and its many panoramic views. Here are some photographic impressions of our Portuguese adventures…

I wish you a wonderful fresh week! Let the sun shine in your hearts!

The Algarve:

The beach in Lagos.

I loved the patina of the houses at the Algarve …here in Aljezur.

The Algarve has the most incredible beaches I’ve ever seen … this is the Praia da Arrifana (view from above).

Praia da Arrifana.

The waves were huge! Like here at the Praia do Amado.

I was very impressed by the size of the Aloe plants!

The beach wedding of André & Isa was a dream: wonderful romantic and full of sun!

The light in the cathedral of Silves felt magical.

View from the Castle of Silves. I loved the orange groves!

Lisbon:

We had our apartment in the wonderful lively neighborhood of Alfama, the oldest part of Lisbon.

Sunset above  Lisbon. View from the São Jorge Castle.

The famous Lisbon tram (we made one hilarious trip with it).

On our last day we visited the impressive Bélem tower – one of Lisbon’s landmarks.

Those Days Between the Years… Quedlinburg/Harz!

A look onto Quedlinburg from the top of the Münzenberg. All pics by Franzi.

Wow, this was my first total blog-free week since five years. I have to admit that I missed it a bit, but then I also finished (two!) books. …Now let’s have a look back to my days between the years 2016 and 2017. Those I celebrated again with a bunch of great people (plus two little guys, who were born in 2016). We rented three apartments in a big, old timber frame building in Quedlinburg/Harz. It was a wonderful time, that was fun and also a bit emotional. A good start into a new year. Here are a few impressions.

P.S. There were three engagements during the last weeks and I am extremely happy about every single one of them: Congrats I & A, C & T and last but not least Little Bro & C!

Have a wonderful start into the fresh week :)! …Have an inspiring one!

Blue sky!

The market square!

I love those old timber frame buildings!

The castle!

Funny street names (Hölle = hell).

Cobblestones everywhere!

We all wrote a wish on a Flying Wish Paper and let it burn (& fly).

Autumn Days in Berlin!

berlin3The parks in the city are colorful right now. All Pics by Franzi.

I am on the road again. The last few days I spent I Berlin on a conference and with friends and family. It was a bit stressful (due to job issues) but I loved the colorful city in all its autumn brilliance! The next days I will be in Hamburg and – of course – in Frankfurt. It’s book fair week :)!

I wish you a wonderful start into the fresh week – have a colorful one :)!

No Time To Cook!

GoettingenPic by Franzi.

No time to cook the last days. Yesterday I went to Göttingen and back to Hamburg. This afternoon I will drive to Frankfurt to my pal Marie and the Frankfurt Book Fair. Can’t await it ;)! In the upper pic you can see yesterdays’ dinner: A potato dish by Mr. Clou. I hope, that I am able to present you something home-made next week again.

Travel Bags!

I only realized this weekend that I am in urgent need for some new travel gear. All the bags I have are having either holes or non-functioning zippers. Here are some candidates that I could imagine to accompany me on my next trips.

The City Trip Packing List!

Packing ListPic by Franzi (It’s Hamburg).

I am off to Oxford today. Nevertheless, I will keep on blogging, but don’t wonder if those next three posts will be shorter than usual. I am a lot traveling, especially during the last few years and I know exactly what I have to pack into my enormous red backpack – if I have enough time for packing. Unfortunately mostly I don’t have this time. I pack in the middle of the night, or just before I have to leave. This is why I ended up packing my whole wardrobe in a panick attack into my backpack when I was going to Nice a few years ago (thank god, the backpack was only lost for a few hours after arriving there) or why I ended up in Prague without one single skirt fitting any of my tops. In those moments, I always wished to have a packing list, which at least tells me the essentials. That’s why I finally prepared one for me and all of you. For my Oxford plans the list comes a little late – I packed again during the night in not the best state of mind. I just counted my contact lenses… Luckily, I packed enough of them, but I wasn’t sure at all…

Print HERE the printer friendly version of the List!
