Two Days Back in Berlin!

The Müggelsee. Pics by Franzi.

The last two days I spent in Berlin with dear friends, my god-son and his siblings. It’s always wonderful to be back in the city of my own childhood. Looking at the Müggelsee reminds me on my own young years. And do you also smell spring already? I saw the first blooms and despite the fact that it’s still grey outside the warmer season is coming closer!

I wish you a wonderful week! Look out for those beautiful early bloomers :)!

Daffodil season!

Two little reasons to always come back to Berlin! (And yes, my godson wears a sock instead of a glove.)

A Late-Summer Weekend with Friends!

OS3It’s already harvest time! Pic by Franzi.

I just came back from two days in my old hometown Osnabrück. We celebrated the second birthday of a little friend of mine and maybe I enjoyed the play time with him even more than he himself ;). Moreover, there was a garden party, good talks, cooking and just ‘quality time’. Here are some impressions of those last days.

I wish you a wonderful start into the fresh week – have one full of laughter!

OS2Our main activity was to put horses and donkeys and cows inside the saloon … and then to take them out of it … and again inside … :D.

OS1The garden of my friends looks already like fall has arrived.

Here are three kids books I found on the Frankfurt Book Fair 2015 … adult books and cookbooks will follow the next weeks :). I love the colorful illustrated stories for kids. They stimulate the fantasy and create a world of its own kind.

I wish you a wonderful weekend. With many funny stories :)!

Fish & Tangerine!

Fish 2Pic by Franzi.

In one of my old cookbooks I recently found a funny sounding fish recipe: A baked combination with tinned tangerine. The recipe had the name “Fish that also tastes Kids”. I tried it and have to announce that I will repeat it! Old cookbooks are the best!

Recipe: Serves 2.

Ingredients: 3-4 codfish filets, 1 lemon, salt, paprika, 30 g butter, 2 carrots, 1 piece of celery root, 1 leek stem, app. 220 g tinned tangerines, 1 cup sour cream, 1 TblSp grated cheese.

Preparation: Baste the fish filets with lemon juice, lets pull through. Cut the vegetables into thin slices, roast in the melted butter. Top with fish filets, the rinsed tangerines and a bit of tangerine juice. Souse with sour cream. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake app. 20 minutes at 200 °C.

Enjoy!

Dads at Home by Johan Bävman!

Johan Bävman4All images are © Johan Bävman.

The photo series Swedish Dads by Johan Bävman shows young Swedish dads and their different ways to cope with parenting on paternity-leave: They not only take care of their children, but they also develop their very own daily routines. I love the craziness in most of the pictures – they simply document the every-day chaos and the different ways to master it. But there is also a heartwarming tenderness between the dads and the small ones. Some of the men really look exhausted, but still somehow happy. These photos not only are representing Sweden’s comparatively generous paternity-leave legislation and its beautiful consequences, but also that the bond between parents and their kids is unbreakable – no matter if we are speaking about a mum or a dad.

I wish you a wonderful long Easter weekend! Have fun with your family & friends!
