New Hamburg Spots!

After Hamburg was the G20 spot last week and everyday in the media, it’s time to calm down a bit in the city. Since I realized that many of my old Hamburg recommendations are not existing anymore (I promise to update those posts soon), it’s time to share with you some new favorite Hamburg spots of mine. Here they are…

Restaurants (Book a table in all of these, if you plan to eat there!):

Brüdigams… My all-time favorite in Hamburg! Classic cuisine with a modern twist. Always delicious!

Ti Breizh… Breton! Incredible tasty galettes and crepes!

Zum Spätzle… Cute little space that serves Swabian dishes.

Kleine Brunnenstraße 1… Little restaurant that’s perfect for special occasions (e.g. Valentine’s Day, Birthday dinners,…).

Bars

Vineyard… Perfect for having a glass of wine with good friends on the end of a stressful week.

Le Lion… The most sophisticated bar in Hamburg.

Coffee

Less Political… Located in the Sternschanze, this place is always crowded with young and hip people.

Black Delight… Small place that makes delicious coffee.

Ice-Cream

Luicella’s… An incredible variety of flavors!

Eisliebe… Always a good reason for a bike tour to Ottensen.

Eisprinzessinnen… Again: An incredible variety of flavors!

I wish you a wonderful July week! Enjoy the warm days :)!

Autumn Days in Berlin!

berlin3The parks in the city are colorful right now. All Pics by Franzi.

I am on the road again. The last few days I spent I Berlin on a conference and with friends and family. It was a bit stressful (due to job issues) but I loved the colorful city in all its autumn brilliance! The next days I will be in Hamburg and – of course – in Frankfurt. It’s book fair week :)!

I wish you a wonderful start into the fresh week – have a colorful one :)!

Hamburg’s Water Side!

My brother and his girlfriend visited me last weekend. Thus, it was time to experience Hamburg as a tourist again. And what is the most characteristic thing in Hamburg? The water, of course! Here are a few water sights from the beautiful city I live in.

I wish you a wonderful start into the fresh week – have a sunny one!

A Weekend in Münster!

we5Münster’s Residence! All Pics by Franzi.

The last weekend I spent with old friends in Münster and Osnabrück. It was nice to be back in those two cities of my past. From Friday to Saturday evening I was in  Münster with its bikes all around the city, the ever-present rain and the ‘Schloss‘ (the Residence). We ate (an enormous) pizza, were at a (school) event in the ‘Schloss’ and I bought a new purse on the flea market. Hope to be back there, soon again!

I wish you a wonderful start into the fresh week – have a beautiful one!

A Guided Tour through Hamburg :)!

we6Chilehaus. All pics by Franzi.

Friday afternoon I was on my first guided tour through Hamburg. We started at the St. Jacobi church, visited the Kontorhausviertel, the Speicherstadt and the HafenCity. To round things up, we booked one hour on the party boat Frau Hedi for a bit of dancing and cruising through the harbour at night :). It was once more a reminder to me that I live in a beautiful and stunning city with lots of faces and unknown histories.

I wish you a wonderful start into the fresh week – full of new experiences!

The Eurovision Song Contest Weekend in Hamburg! #ESC2016

we3Sunny Alster! All pics by Franzi.

Unfortunately I had a bad stomach this whole weekend long – thanks to my own stupid self eating an old  salad :/. Nevertheless, I spent some hours outside in the ever-changing weather – extremely sunny, suddenly changing to cold and wet. And then there was also the #ESC2016. It may have been a sad result for Germany, but it was fun to watch it in a big group :)!

I wish you a wonderful start into the fresh week. Stay fit!

A Wet Hamburg Weekend (Spent Inside)!

we2Friday night in the lively Italian Restaurant Rocco. Buenasera! All pics by Franzi.

It was raining the whole weekend in Hamburg. Thus, I spent some comfy hours inside. Friday we had Pizza and red wine, Saturday I visited the Museum of Zoology and we had a game night with friends. Yesterday we were in the Museum of Ethnology! The latter was enormously big – thus I had an information overload… but an interesting one :)!

I wish you a wonderful start into the fresh week. Have a sunny one!

New Year’s Resolutions: 3. Get To Know Hamburg Better!

pinterest hhPicture Credit

My third resolution is to get to know my not-so-new-anymore hometown Hamburg better. Since I am spending many weekends in Berlin or Osnabrück I only had a few “free” weekends in Hamburg until now. Thus, I will try to have more walks around the city and to be there on more weekends.

Moin moin! (“Hello” in Hamburg slang.)

Goodbye Osna!

OSPic by Franzi.

The longest move of all times will end this week. On Friday I will leave my flat in Osnabrück FOR GOOD! I thought about a long goodbye letter to this city that I call myself my comfort zone. But I am sure that I will come back on a regular basis. So, no goodbye letter needed.

I wish you a wonderful week! …I will clean my balcony now.

The City That Surprised Me Once: Vienna!

Steffel WienSt. Stephen’s Cathedral (Stephansdom)

On Friday evening I will sit in the night train to Vienna and on Saturday I will finally join the Mini-Blogst. I can’t await it: Not only it will be my very first blog conference and I hope to meet many interesting creative people, but also I am happy to be finally back in the Austrian capital after 7 long years. Vienna was the first station of my trip through Europe after I made my diploma at the beginning of the year 2007. Originally I hadn’t planned to go there at all, but it lay on the way to Rome, which I wanted to see so badly. When I arrived there for one week I was thunderstrucked: The city convinced me at first sight – its architecture, its people, its language, its opera aaand its museums. The pictures below are all made back then. Vienna is a wonderful memory and I am sure that the next weekend will only add more memorable events!

I wish you a wonderful start into the fresh week. Make it a memorable one!
