Late-Summer / Early-Fall Vacation 2017: At the Darss!

A small artwork I found at the “Weststrand” (west beach) near Ahrenshoop. All pics by Franzi.

It’s already one long week ago since we came back from our vacation at the Bay of Barth at the Darss. It was such a relaxing time: With lots of books, ice-cream, delicious meals, day trips – and even a bath in the (cold) Baltic Sea. Here are some impressions of those two fantastic weeks for you.

I wish you a wonderful new week! Have a wonderful time :)!

We made two hiking trips near Barth:

At Barth’s harbor we observed stunning sunsets:

Both of us adore the “Weststrand” (west beach) between Ahrenshoop and Prerow:

We also made a day trip to the city Greifswald, which we both really liked:

The old harbor in Greifswald.

The old wooden bridge in Wieck.

The stunning ruins of the monastery Eldena – famous because artist Casper David Friedrich painted them.

The Bay of Greifswald.

Summer Vacations 2016: Wrap-Up!

9The harbour in Barth. All pics by Franzi.

Now they are over… our summer vacations 2016. Those were two wonderful weeks at the Baltic Sea and I have to admit that I am a bit sad that they are already gone. Nevertheless, they were full of wonderful experiences: Our little house in Barth and the harbour were the central spot of our stay. From there, we visted Zingst, Rügen, Hiddensee, Stralsund, Prerow and the northern beach ‘Darßer Ort‘. Then there was also the fantastic concert by my clarinet hero Giora Feidman (who actually welcomed every guest at the door personally – I was gobsmacked) and a (rainy) play at the open air theater in Barth. Now, I start refreshed and motivated into work (and dream about those wonderful past days now and then to refill my batteries ;).

I wish you a wonderful start into the fresh week – have a powerful one!

Chilling on the Sea!

SeagullA seagull chilling at the beach in Zingst :). Pic by Franzi.

Those are our last few vacation days at the sea. Yesterday, we walked to the lighthouse Darßer Ort – a wonderful wild location. Now we try to chill a bit – like the seagull above, that I saw in Zingst last weekend.

P.S.: More pictures from our adventures you can find (always in black/white) at Instagram @luckmysocalled (or in color at SnapChat @mysocalledluck).

Have a beautiful day!

The Island of my Dreams: Hiddensee!

Hiddensee13My Grandma’s book about Hiddensee from 1952. All pics by Franzi.

We are still at the Baltic sea in our summer vacations. Last Thursday and Friday we were on my beloved island Hiddensee. It was the first time for me that I spent a night on the island and it was wonderful! I love its rough nature, the water all around and the pretty little houses. Here are some photos to give you an impression of this little spot of heaven :)…

I wish you a wonderful start into the fresh week – have a sunny one!

Summer Vacations 2016: The first Days at the Baltic Sea!

we3The stormy coastline in Zingst.. All pics by Franzi.

Our summer vacations 2016 just started. Friday we drove to the Baltic Sea. Here we are staying in Barth and plan to have lots of sun (or maybe stormy) baths at the beach in Zingst. Yesterday we were at the isle of Rügen with its rough nature and impressing cliff coast! Here are some impressions of those first vacation days…

I wish you a wonderful start into the fresh week – have a relaxed one!

Let’s start into the first whole week of 2016. The last days I spent with friends in Loddin at the Baltic Sea. It was a funny and relaxing time at the water with day trips to Zinnowitz and the Polish town Świnoujście. Here are some impressions :).

I wish you a wonderful start into the fresh week. Have a wonderful time!

The Baltic Sea: Zingst & Rügen!

OSTSEE1BARTH/NEAR ZINGST (all pics by Franzi)

Two weekends ago, I spend some days with my dad, my brother and his girlfriend at my Dad’s place in Barth, near the Baltic Sea. Saturday we went to the little Sea town Zingst: The sun was shining but the water was still freezing cold – not that I would have even considered to go bathing in May ;). Sunday we made a trip to one of my favorite places in the world: Kap Arkona on the island Rügen. The weekend brought me just into the right summer mood. …With those following pics I would like to share this (German) beach feeling with you :).

Have a sunny start into the fresh week! …And a fantastic new summer (!) month!

Those Were My Days … At The Sea!

My time at the sea is already more than one week ago. Oh, I am craving the sound of he sea gulls, the wind at the harbor, the cold of the water and the sallow thorn ice-cream. I miss the solitude, the little house near the tower, the church and its famous pipe organ. Why do vacations always have to end so fast? I am happy to be home again, but the melancholia of these past few weeks is still in my heart.

I wish you a perfect start into a wonderful week, filled with many memorable moments!

BeachThe beach …sometimes wild and dangerous (and cold!), sometimes calm like a lake! All pics by Franzi.

Barth4Barth …the harbor = the place I ate ice-cream ALL THE TIME.

Barth6Barth …on my last day there was a feast at the harbor and I rode with the ferry wheel!

Barth5Barth …one of the prettiest gardens I ever saw!

Barth2Barth …the small white house on the right is where I lived!

Barth1Barth …in this church I listened to two fantastic (!) concerts.

Barth3Barth …I tried to watch the sundown at the harbor every evening (while eating ice-cream).

Hiddensee1Hiddensee …I made a one-day trip there (3 hours on the ferry to the island, 3 hours on the island, 3 hours on the ferry back to Barth – so worth it!).

Hiddensee2Hiddensee …I love the wild feeling of this island!
