Fast & Easy DIY: Paper Bag Star!

My paper bag star. All pics by Franzi.

Have you decorated your flat festive already? I may be the last human being on earth discovering the magic of paper bag stars. They are simple to make and incredible pretty! Just in case there are still some of you out there, who also never made one before, here is the fast and easy instruction:

Instructions:

You need:

8 paper bags, 2 cardboard paper strips (as long as the paper bags, app. 0,5 cm wide), a glue-stick, scissors, some ribbon for hanging, a hole puncher.

Steps:

Place a bag on the table with the opening facing you. Apply glue centered from top to the bottom and from left to right along the bottom of the bag (in “T” shape). Repeat this step until all eight bags are glued on.

Cut the right and the left side of the bag to a point, to create the star pointers.

Add slits, curves or triangles to the side as you like.

Then the cardboard paper strips are used: Apply glue on each strip, place it at the center of the paper bags and press firmly. Proceed the same way on the backside. Round off the overlapping ends of the strips with a scissor.

Punch a hole in the end of the strips (at the triangle-shaped end, as hole for the ribbon).

Unfold your star and be happy :).

Have a beautiful week!

Pop-Up Books!

10 Chaises by Dominique Ehrhard. All pics by Franzi.

One thing that surprised me this year on the Frankfurt Book Fair was the impressing number of astonishing pop-up books. There were lots of them and pretty artistic ones. Not only for kids, but also for adults, depicting art pieces or furniture. But look for yourself :)…

Have a beautiful week!

A Nice Fall Stroll (With New Boots)!

I love those beautiful fall colors! All pics by Franzi.

Last weekend I stayed in my mom’s house and made a wonderful stroll through the autumnal streets. I wore my new boots and enjoyed the fall air, the fall sun and the colorful leaves. This is really my favorite season :). What is yours?

Have a colorful start into the fresh fall week!

New boots for walking :).

The sound of stepping on dry leaves… there’s nothing better.

This typical fall light – a pale yellow-orange.

Lately … on Instagram!

Race! All pics by Franzi. See more on Instagram.

Today just some new pictures from my Instagram account I made during the last four weeks. I use Instagram mainly as a way to live out my artsy moments ;). So, I thought it would be great to share the latest pics with you from time to time. Last month I discovered not only a loooong (chalk) snake in my courtyard, but I also visited for the first time a horse race, saw some stunning 1980s architecture in Chemnitz and enjoyed the evening sun at the Alster in Hamburg.

I wish you a wonderful new week! Have a beautiful one :)!

In Memoriam of a Princess…

Pink roses for a princess who stated “A dash of pink is always a good idea!” Pic by Franzi.

Last Thursday a friend lost her battle against cancer. She was a hell of a fighter and will be missed forever.

I am incredibly thankful to knew her and for all the happy hours we had together. Never will I forget her singing this song or her sleepwalking or her homemade jams or her being able to be ready in the morning in only 5 minutes (max) or her or wild dance in a car full of helium-filled balloons at her hen night or her love of karaoke or her first attempts on a snowboard or her being “kidnapped” by some unfriendly police-officers or the situation in which I realized she was pregnant or her socks on the bath mat in our first winter vacations or all those other small events that we were able to enjoy together. …Or the moment she came back into the life of one of my besties, as her so-called “fortune cookie”.

She also was the big luck of another dear friend of mine – she was the mother of his son and his newly wed wife. …Those two people were the reason she fought this hard. T & H: Thanks for being at her side during this battle and all the strength you gave her.

I am grateful to had her into my life, in the life of my friends and for every intensive moment we were able to experience in the last year – despite all odds. Now that her fight is over, we will carry her in our hearts. To enjoy every moment – that is what she taught as during those last months.

Goodbye princess C. You will be in our hearts forever.

I wish you a week full of memorable moments. Enjoy every second!

A Garden Wedding!

The beautiful wedding cake – with the names of the bride, the groom & their little daughter! All pics by Franzi.

Now we are definitely in the midst of this year’s wedding season! On Saturday Stephan and me were in Hesse at the beautiful garden wedding of his second cousin Simone and her groom Olli. It was such a wonderful feast with lots of inspirational ideas. Here are some impressions…

I wish you a wonderful fresh week! Have a lovely one!

I loved the table decoration: Collectors cups and saucers & wild flowers.

A candy bar!!!

In the night they lit a fire – and smoked salmon, which was later served as midnight dinner!

Those Beautiful Days in ….Portugal!

All pics by Franzi.

We are back from Portugal. Somehow I made it through the plane flights …and it was totally worth it! The Algarve was a dream: On my birthday we had 30°C (a first in 35 years) and visited the most stunning beaches. The wedding of Isa and André was full of sunshine and love. Lisbon impressed me with its Fado sounds, the steep streets of Alfama, a hilarious tram ride, its elevators to reach the higher parts of the town and its many panoramic views. Here are some photographic impressions of our Portuguese adventures…

I wish you a wonderful fresh week! Let the sun shine in your hearts!

The Algarve:

The beach in Lagos.

I loved the patina of the houses at the Algarve …here in Aljezur.

The Algarve has the most incredible beaches I’ve ever seen … this is the Praia da Arrifana (view from above).

Praia da Arrifana.

The waves were huge! Like here at the Praia do Amado.

I was very impressed by the size of the Aloe plants!

The beach wedding of André & Isa was a dream: wonderful romantic and full of sun!

The light in the cathedral of Silves felt magical.

View from the Castle of Silves. I loved the orange groves!

Lisbon:

We had our apartment in the wonderful lively neighborhood of Alfama, the oldest part of Lisbon.

Sunset above  Lisbon. View from the São Jorge Castle.

The famous Lisbon tram (we made one hilarious trip with it).

On our last day we visited the impressive Bélem tower – one of Lisbon’s landmarks.

Look Update: April 2017!

Just a few dresses I tried on… All pics by Franzi.

The last four weeks I was on the hunt for dresses! Honestly, I tried on at least 300 dresses. The reason: The wedding season starts. The first wedding of 2017 in my circle of friends is on Thursday. Obviously, I had nothing to wear for such a special event. It really was not easy to find something in this jungle of different dress styles. And once more I realized that I hate changing cabinets and this awful light. But finally I was successful and found three great dresses!

The three dresses I finally bought.

…And no, I will not reveal which dress I will wear at which wedding. By the way: There are more than ‘only’ three weddings in the line this year :D.

Moreover, I participated at a clothing swap party! Now I have a LOT more space in my wardrobe and got three nice cardigans and a pair of sunglasses! Such a great idea to refresh your spring wardrobe without much money (and eco-friendly) :)!

With regard to my shoes, there are also news: I trashed my old sneakers and bought these new beauties. Since I also ruined my sandals last summer, I also bought two new pairs of sandals:

My new sandals – brown leather by Keen, black leather by ZIGN.

Then, as an after-effect of last month’s look post, I bought a pastel colored blouson (by H&M):

My new blouson.

And I also spotted a new trend: BODYSUITS!

I saw some girls, who have gone really crazy about this distinct piece :)!

Would you wear bodysuits? For me they feel a bit too much 1980s… But on the other hand, they do look quite elegant on some women.

Have a beautiful April week! With lots of sun and dress-compatible weather :)!

Fashion Highlight Spring 2017: Blousons (Bomber Jackets)!

Two blousons I saw last week at the #SMWHH. Pic by Franzi.

The last week I spent at the Social Media Week Hamburg #SMWHH. I not only learned a lot of interesting new things, but also spotted very stylish people all around me. The one item that I came across again and again were silky (really: parachute fabric!) blousons – aka bomber jackets!

I was surprised: Bomber jackets always remind me on my adolescence in the 1990s were they represented a clear (right-oriented) political standing. Now they come with floral designs and bright flashy colors. They are teamed up with skirts or skinny jeans and worn by women and men! With the still colder temperatures out there most people I met wore them as a blazer or cardigan underneath their winter coats. Nevertheless, I am sure that blousons will be worn as light coats when it’s finally getting warmer.

Would you wear a bomber jacket? Let me know!
Have a beautiful week!

Some second-hand blousons I found in the PICKnWEIGHT store in Hamburg.

Two Days Back in Berlin!

The Müggelsee. Pics by Franzi.

The last two days I spent in Berlin with dear friends, my god-son and his siblings. It’s always wonderful to be back in the city of my own childhood. Looking at the Müggelsee reminds me on my own young years. And do you also smell spring already? I saw the first blooms and despite the fact that it’s still grey outside the warmer season is coming closer!

I wish you a wonderful week! Look out for those beautiful early bloomers :)!

Daffodil season!

Two little reasons to always come back to Berlin! (And yes, my godson wears a sock instead of a glove.)
