Last week I got a package filled with a number of eatable goods: Coffee, tea, liqueur, beer, a peanut snack, the inspiring cooking magazine Finesse (more or less eatable 😉 ) … and a bottle of Bavarian BBQ sauce. The package was a so-called Gourmet Box – a box that is delivered every two months to its subscribers and filled with lots of delicious surprises. Since the Gourmet Box distributor is based in Osnabrück they asked me if I would like to test their box here on my blog and I was more than happy to say yes – I am certainly a girl, who likes tasty surprises! So, how did I like the contents of the box?
I liked that the box used the summer as over-all topic and thus offered a summer tea, recipes for summer drinks, and some nice things for a BBQ like the sauce and the beer. But let’s begin with some critical comments (before I rave about the rest): I don’t like that the tea is flavoured. In my opinion, tea should be natural: tea, herbs, dried fruits or spices. Unfortunately, I also don’t have a coffee mill – that makes it a bit difficult to test the coffee, but I will give it some friends of mine, who will be happy about it. The liqueur was okay, but nothing special that deserves to be called ‘gourmet’ (but it will certainly be a good topping on vanilla ice-cream). And now the positive ones: I was very happy when I spotted the beer – I drank it before, its regional and very good. I also loooved the peanut cubes … and couldn’t stop eating them. In the end I distributed the last ones among my colleagues. The only little downside here was the package that looks very eco, but isn’t because its insides are aluminium and plastic (to keep the nuts fresh, I guess). The item I adored most was the BBQ sauce by BBQUE – it is natural, it’s made in Germany, it’s thick and creamy, it’s delicious … and I used it to make this hearty potato tofu sausages salad:
Recipe: Serves 2-3.
Ingredients: App. 300 g potatoes (cooked and cubed), 1 onion (diced), 1 red bell pepper (cubed), 6 small tofu sausages (sliced), 1 Tsp mustard, 1 TblSp olive oil, app. 100 ml BBQ sauce, salt, pepper, sugar.
Preparation: In a big bowl, mix the potatoes with the onions, the bell pepper and the tofu sausages. Prepare a dressing with the mustard, the olive oil and the BBQ sauce. Add to the salad, mix and season with salt, pepper and sugar.
Conclusion: All in all I liked this summer-like Gourmet Box . Some items I liked more, some less. But I guess that’s okay for a box filled with surprises 🙂
I got the Gourmet Box for free. Nevertheless, I only stated my own opinions . I’m happy to answer all questions regarding blog corporations in a personal message.
